Install Compiz Fusion di Ubuntu 10.10

Compiz Fusion is a state of art frame work for a cool looking PC. With compiz you can make desktop effects, 3d Desktop, Desktop Zoom etc. There is a window manager called emerald is with compiz and lot of great themes are available for emerald. Compiz is an essential component for a full eye candy desktop in linux. Here we are just take a look at the simple procedure to install compiz fusion on Ubuntu 10.10 Maverik Meerkat.

First you need 3D acceleration Open GL driver for your graphics card. In the case of Nvidia,ATi you want to install them manually. If you can enable desktop effects in ubuntu then your graphics drivers are working perfect. or you can check in your ubuntu 10.10 by just type

glxgears

on terminal. It shows three gears rotating in a small popup window.

Installation of Compiz Fustion is very simple. Open A terminal then

sudo apt-get install compiz compiz-plugins compiz-gnome compiz-core emerald compiz-fusion-plugins-main compiz-fusion-plugins-extra fusion-icon compizconfig-settings-manager

After Installation you want to run the compiz fusion to select the effects. Go Applications -> System Tools -> Compiz Fusion Icon. A blue icon will appear to the tray. From here you can configure Compiz-Fusion.

Install printer Canon IP 2770 di ubuntu 10.4 & 10.10

Buat para pengguna Linux khususnya ubuntu lovers, sedikit tips bagi yang menggunakan printer Canon IP 2770, jika kesulitan menemukan drivernya, karena printer ini tergolong baru jadi ubuntu belum menyediakan langsung di localhostnya, berikut langkah-langkah instal driver printer Canon IP 2770 di Ubuntu 10.04 dan 10.10 :

1. Pertama download Drivernya disini
2. Selanjutnya Ekstract file download tadi di home folder atau desktop
3. Hidupkan dan colokin Printernya ke laptop/kompi
   
4. Cari file "Instal.sh" klik dua kali
   
5. Run with terminal

Setelah proses selesai ubuntu akan mendeteksi Printer Canon IP2770 anda. Easy tah.. :)
Cara diatas digunakan buat teman-teman yang masih newbie seperti saya, klo yang hobi maen-maen di terminal bisa mengikuti langkah berikut:

1. Pertama download Drivernya
2. Hidupkan dan colokin printernya ke laptop/kompi
   
3. Buka terminal di Application>Acsesoris>terminal
4. kemudian untuk mengekstact filenya ketik "#tar -zxvf cnijfilter-ip2700series-3.30-1-i386-deb.tar.gz" di terminal.
5. Setelah itu jalan scriptnya dengan mengetik "#./install.sh" di terminal.

Dan selesai sudah, Anda sudah bisa ngeprint dengan ubuntu hehehe....

To install VirtualBox in Ubuntu 10.10 maverick meerkat, you need to add the non free repository.

1-Open terminal and copy the command bellow :

sudo add-apt-repository "deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian maverick non-free"

2- Add the verification key, Copy this command :

wget -q http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian/oracle_vbox.asc -O- | sudo apt-key add -

3- Now update and install :

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install virtualbox-3.2

This command will install the latest stable version of VirtualBox3.2.

Linux sebagai OS Pilihan.

Berawal dari kebosanan menghadapi virus yang saban hari terus menguras pikiran, dimana hampir setiap menit didunia maya terlahir virus yang begitu menyebalkan, kini setelah mendapat pencerahan dari beberapa rekan dan sahabat akhirnya saya memutuskan ke Open Source saja. Linux Ubuntu adalah salah satu pilihan saya saat ini.

Selain safety akan berbagai serangan virus lokal dan luar, ubuntu cukup handal menangkal keberadaan virus cs. Interface dan GUI yang diberikan pun cukup memadai, sama dengan halnya tampilan MAC yang begitu memukau mata.

Namanya juga Open Source jadi disana-sini masih ada aja kekurang, tapi kekurangan itu bisa ditutupi dengan rajin-rajin mengupdate. forum dan link linux sangat membantu dalam mengembangkan dan belajar operasi sistem yang satu ini.

Beredar kabar katanya Ubuntu akan hadir dengan new version 11.04 yang akan dirilis bulan April Mendatang, untuk rekan-rekan yang berkeinginan untuk mendapatkan CD ubuntu silahkan mampir di www.ubuntu.com.
